Product of a Postcode is a charity in East London led by the inspirational Gary Hutton. The charity’s vision is a world where all young people are able to develop into the very best versions of themselves. I initially joined as a lay committee member without portfolio, then a consultant conducting development work. I got up to quite a lot at the charity!
My work included writing an evaluation report about the charity’s headline intervention, conducting meetings with local authorities and creating a new website. Like most who encounter Gary, I was overwhelmed by a desire to help him achieve his noble mission for young people and was eventually persuaded to become the chair of his executive committee. The charity runs three interventions, Fight for a Better Life (educational leadership programme), Dreams and Passions (a discretionary grant fund for children and young people) and workshops for educational organisations.
